
ASIAN JADE SOCIETY
Mission Statement
- Promote tolerance and understanding of the different cultures that make up
the NYPD Asian Jade Society.
- Teaching cultural diversity, tolerance and understanding of the different
ethnicity's, we create a strong bond and working relationship between the
Police Department and the Asian Communities.
- To recruit talented, multilingual, and educated Asians to increase the
number of Asian Police Officers in the NYC Police Department, so that they
may represent and assist their communities by working in those Precincts.
- Design, Devise and apply effective programs that will facilitate education
of the public in such critical areas as officer safety, community police
relations, crime prevention, and personal safety, with an emphasis on
Children's Issues.
The NYPD Asian Jade Society has worked hard toward this goal not only in New
York City but also on a national level with the Federal Law Enforcement
community as well as other states and cities.

History
The New York Police Department's Asian Jade Society was
established in 1980 by ten law enforcement officers, who together had a vision.
They envisioned of a diverse police department who would need an organization to
champion the cause for Asian law enforcement personnel. They are the fore
fathers of our Society and forever the corner stone of our history.
They are:
- Paul Chu, First President for the Society
- Eugene Lee, Past president
- Lloyd Hutchinson, Past President
- Tommy Ong, Past President
- Barry Eng
- Joe Chan
- Richard Lee
- Ernie Eng
- Robert Lum
- Dewey Fong
Through the years, the Society increased in membership. Some of these members
belonged to other Police Departments. They in turn became forefathers of their
Asian Organizations.
